OBSERVATIONS OF TEST FLIGHTS FROM ORMOND BEACH AIRPORT
OVER TOMOKA ESTATES DONE 7-14-09 BY EMBRY RIDDLE & THE
ORMOND BEACH NOISE ABATEMENT TASK FORCE
THE FLIGHTS STARTED A FEW MINUTES BEFORE 6 PM THAT I HAVE COMMENTED ON BELOW.
THIS INFORMATION IS FOR TOMOKA ESTATES, EAST OF THE AIRPORT ONLY.

MY OPINION:
If the planes flew the correct path or even a little more to the east after
taking off, they avoid creating any noise over the homes in Tomoka Estates.
Sharp turns north earlier than shown on the airport's map is what causes noise
over the homes. The areas to the right of the red (Ormond Lakes and Tomoka
Estates) is mostly Tomoka State Park and has no homes over it. The planes
could still make a turn north before going over the ocean and stay in that zone
between homes and Ormond by the Sea.
It appears that Ormond Beach Noise Abatement Task Force member, Dr. Ayers,
representing Embry Riddle University, is making a good effort to make conditions
better for neighbors of the airport. If other flight schools, including
some in Daytona Beach who use this airport for practice, would make the same
effort things would be better than it has been for years.
